Let me just say from the off, in our opinion, to consistently trade profitably, trading software is not the answer. It may be part of the answer, but it certainly cannot be relied on to consistently provide you with successful trade after successful trade. Having said all that there’s nothing like choosing an entry or exit point from a market and having some software running in the background backing up your decision. So, if you view these programs for what they are and don’t come to rely on them solely, you may just find them beneficial. To that end, Investor Trader doesn’t endorse any of the software we list but provide this resource as a starting point for your search for trading software Nirvana.

There are plenty of online UK stockbrokers out there offering instant market access for a set fee. Look carefully at a number before you take the plunge. A low per trade cost may be a great incentive – especially if you plan to trade more than once or twice a month – but issues like reliability are just as, if not more important. I’ve had trade windows slam shut because my online broker’s web site has been down for maintenance. Often a recommendation from a friend in the know is the best bet and a backup account should problems be encountered, a nice fall back position. Stock tip sheets offer the would-be investor the opinion of experts in the field. Often they provide a good starting point for further equity investigation. Personally, a tip from a respected tip sheet can help narrow the field when I’m condsidering a number of different equities for investment. And while they don’t always get it right, more often than not they’ve at least done their homework. Bigger, more well known tippers have even been known to shape the market in the short term. Whatever your feelings, having a listen to what others have to say – whether you act on it or not – can’t be a bad thing, right?
