Day 45 – Portfolio Value £7,690 Down £90 On The Day

ReneSola experienced a second day of retracement following our crazy gains that began last week, but interestingly it seemed to settle around the two pound mark. Psychologically, nice round figures tend to make convenient entry and exit points for investors and theoritaclly at least, can bring on increased volume. “If that thing ever gets under two quid, I’m getting back in”, or “if this donkey ever gets above two quid, I’m selling the lot!” We’ll see what happens after investors have a weekend to stew on it.

I’ll be happy with a little less volatility from ReneSola next week, some nice steady, sustainable gains would be good, though we’ve taken our share of profits this past week. Our holding in ReneSola has gone from 2,377 shares down to 1,000. If it dips significantly early in the week, I’ll be jumping back in, otherwise I think we’ll look for a little value elsewhere. It’s nice not having ReneSola hog the portfolio anymore, to live or die on the back of a single share’s performance.

Today we had another three shares step into the limelight. Ceramic Fuel Cells finished north 10% on the day, Climate Exchange, 8% and Eros International (our Bollywood film producer and distrubutor) up 7%.

These are interesting investing times we live in.

Day 44 – Portfolio Value £7,780 Down £35 On The Day

So, the inevitable happened, ReneSola came back a little. Not a lot, but a little and believe it or not, I’m a touch relieved. Not that I don’t like making money, it’s just that volatile stocks that climb that fast tend to slump back down to earth with an even bigger thump.

For ReneSola to have a mild 6.8% retraction – and 6.8% is mild going on this past month’s gains – is healthy. It makes me think that perhaps ReneSola had been oversold recently, there was market consensus and now we’ll be trading less erratically above a whole new plateau for the foreseeable future.

But as ReneSola slowed its charge, Climate Exchange took up the baton. Now Climate Exchange makes up a much smaller percentage of our portfolio so where not going to see the overall gains that we’ve seen recently, but an 18% rise in a day in any holding is nothing to be sneezed at.

Eros International – our Bollywood film producer and distributor – continued its good form of late, rising 7% on the day, on the back of announcing a record breaking Indian box office performance for its first Marathi release.

Low Carbon Accelerator gained 6.5% and Lloyds Bank received a little more support from investors after its recent restructuring news, rising 2.6% on the day.

We finished down on the day but there’s lots there to be happy about.

Thanks again for dropping by.

Day 35 – Portfolio Value £6,289 Up £165 On The Day

After a mixed day for our little, green share portfolio, ReneSola shoved us into positive territory with a 7% gain, busting a little resistance on the way.

As the heftiest share in our portfolio – on current weighting it makes up 56% of our holdings – any movements in ReneSola’s share price has a substantial effect on where we end the day.

After exploring 140 pence yesterday, today was always going to be a test for ReneSola as it has run into resistance repeatedly at this mark over the past three months. Not only did it open above 140 pence this morning, it traded above that mark all day, surging as the markets opened in New York. Taking a closer look at the three month chart for Renesola you’ll notice it has nudged above the 5, 10 and 26 day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) lines and is closing in on the 200 day EMA. All strong signs but I’ll be very interested to see what happens on Wednesday.

Clipper Windpower ended the day slightly down, Ceramic Fuel Cells and Climate Exchange oh so very slightly up.

Low Carbon Accelerator took a 6% whack but making up less than 9% of our portfolio, the impact was minimal.

So after a £440 pound appreciation this week already, I say, bring on Wednesday.

Day 17 – Portfolio Value £5,017 Up £74 On The Day

On a lacklustre Friday, when the FTSE finished down 14 points, our little green-based portfolio made modest gains.

Low Carbon Accelerator, Climate Exchange and Clipper Windpower all made gains of between 2% and 4%, whilst our portfolio heavyweight, Renesola did little on modest volume finishing down 0.25 pence.

Day 13 – Portfolio Value £5,485 Up £215 On The Day

Another mixed day today when you look at the arrows but the performers in our little green portfolio more than compensated for the sliders.

Our latest acquisition, Clipper Windpower powered ahead again finishing up 19.5 pence at £1.45. Not bad when you consider we bought it three short days ago for £1.0450. To date it’s appreciated over 38%.

ReneSola continued it’s good run finishing up 1.75 pence, whilst Climate Exchange dropped two pence on the day. Low Carbon Accelerator did nada on low volumes.
